Vintage car enthusiasts can head to Fort Totten in November to see a fleet of vintage automobiles.
The Bayside Historical Society has announced that its 2021 Classic Car Show will return on Sunday, November 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The show will be presented in conjunction with the Long Island Sound area of the Classic Car Club of America and will transform the lawn of Fort Totten Castle into an exhibition area for a variety of vintage and vintage cars from a bygone era.
In 1898, Paris hosted the world’s first auto show called the Paris Motor Show created by Jules-Albert de Dion. It was later renamed Mondial de l’Automobile and paved the way for similar auto shows around the world.
In 1900, the Automobile Club of America hosted an auto show in New York City Madison Square Garden, which is widely regarded as the first major car show. Wire reported that the weeklong event brought together 66 exhibitors and 31 automobiles.
While the Fort Totten Show is on a smaller scale, the annual event features vintage and classic cars created in the last century.
The auto show is free and those interested can confirm their attendance at baysidehistorical.org/events-1/bhs-vintage-car-show-2021. For more information on car registration and prices, contact Jim Barnes at 917-428-4499 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
