Billie Joe Armstrong’s car has been reported stolen.
The Green Day frontman has requested information on the fate of the missing 1962 Chevy II in Costa Mesa, California.
The punk rocker and classic car collector is devastated because the Chevy is “near and dear” to the “Basket Case” band.
Alongside a photo of the white car with ‘stolen’ in red written across the image, Billie Joe wrote on Instagram: “This car is near and dear to all of our hearts and has been a part of the GD family for over 30 years.
“Please send any observations, advice, or information to Costa Mesa Police. Incident #22-002015, 22-002016. Please call 714-754-5280, please repost, let everyone help find this car!! (sic) “
Meanwhile, the “American Idiot” hitmakers tease new music.
A preview of a song played in two videos shared on the band’s Instagram page with “1972” appearing in both clips.
Green Day has been busy writing new music amid the COVID-19 pandemic and hasn’t ruled out releasing a new record.
Asked about the possibility of him and his bandmates – Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt – working on a new album, Billie said in 2020: “It’s possible.
“Whether we’re doing a full album, an EP or just one song, we have a lot of different options. It’s all about when the right moment happens.
“That’s the beauty of how you can stream music these days. You don’t have to wait for a guardian to tell you it’s time.”
The 49-year-old rock star also revealed his desire to work with ‘Father of All…’ producer Butch Walker again.
He said, “I wrote a lot of music and had all these melodies in my head, so I’ve written about six songs since all this happened.
“I don’t know when I will be able to reunite with Mike [Dirnt, bass] and Tre [Cool, drums]but I told them to make sure they’re quarantined for now, and then hopefully we can get back in the studio with [‘Father of All…’ producer] Butch Walker.
“Father of All…” was released in 2020.
