CANCELED: Rocktobierfest & Vintage & Classic Car Show

The city of Rockville announced on Friday that two highly anticipated events in October will be canceled due to public health concerns related to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

Rocktobierfest and Antique and Classic Car Show will no longer take place according to Rockville City director Rob DiSpirito.

“In the interest of better ensuring the health and safety of our residents, visitors and employees of the city in the face of recent extremely worrying trends in this COVID-19 pandemic, as General Manager, I am canceling the two high-traffic audiences in the city. events planned for this fall: Rocktobierfest and the annual classic and classic car show, ”DiSpirito said in a message to the mayor and council.

Rocktobierfest, which was scheduled to take place on October 2, draws more than 8,000 people to the city for the festival, celebrating music, food and beer. The Classic and Vintage Car Show brings together car enthusiasts to see vintage and classic cars. A flea market and concerts are also organized each year during the fair.

“I don’t take this step lightly because none of us want to disappoint the public,” said DiSpirito. “If more people were vaccinated, we wouldn’t be in this position now. In light of recent pandemic measures, especially with the Delta variant running, this is the responsible and necessary action to be taken for the safety of the public and employees, our highest shared obligation. “
