‘Captain Cool’ Dhoni’s love of vintage cars buys Land Rover Series 3 in online auction

Mumbai: Cricketing legend MS Dhoni is known for his love of cars and bikes. In the latest addition to his garage, MS Dhoni has bought himself ‘1971 Land Rover Series III Station Wagon’ for himself. The car was purchased at an online antique and classic car auction, organized by Big Boy Toyz.
Although the company that conducted the electronic auction declined to disclose the price at which Maahi bought the Land Rover. The online auction started on December 19 and the month-long electronic auction ended on January 8, 2022.
The online auction saw the participation of several celebrities from across the country. According to Big Boy Toyz, they presented a list of 19 exclusive cars for auction, including cars from Rolls Royce, Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet, Land Rover, Austin, Mercedes-Benz and others. These cars were renowned collections from all over the country and were displayed in the flagship showroom in Gurgaon.
The auction of vintage 1960 Volkswagen Beetle, started at Re 1 and went up to Rs 25 lakhs and was won by a young tech entrepreneur. The auction saw the participation of a new group of customers who were unsure where to buy classic cars and most were first-time classic car buyers.
Few celebrities also participated in the auction. MS Dhoni participated in the auction and bought a Land Rover 3 for himself. The company says there has been great interest and a strong response to all classic cars auctioned online, as 50% of total inventory has already been sold.
Commenting on the online auction, Jatin Ahuja, Founder and CEO of Big Boy Toyz, said, “Our goal was to be a one-stop solution for car enthusiasts. Our main goal while working on this venture was to facilitate the domestic market with a portal where classic car enthusiasts can buy and sell the royalties. The response has been overwhelming as 50% of the cars have already been sold. This has led us to expand our customer base, reaching a whole new set of customers who are first-time buyers at Big Boy Toyz. We will be back with the next auction at the end of February and will follow the same every 2 months.
