The 32nd edition of the Copperstate 1000 will take place in Arizona in April for an exciting revival of community and culture. Sponsored by Bell Lexus North Scottsdale and run by the Men’s Arts Council, the event will showcase 90 vintage automobiles as they travel 1,000 miles across the country. Drivers come from all over America and Europe to participate in this culturally enriching experience.

Copperstate 1000 takes place on Sunday, April 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. during the Roadrunner event. Drivers and co-drivers of the 90 vintage cars will depart at 10:00 a.m. from Tempe Diablo Stadium located at 2200 West Alameda Drive, Tempe, AZ 85282. The entire event is family-friendly and open to the public.

The Men’s Arts Council originally established the Copperstate 1000 in 1990 as a fundraiser for the Phoenix Art Museum. Even after three decades, the road continues to bring warmth with new scenery and terrain that showcases the beautiful states.

With the success of the annual fundraiser, Joel Coen, new president of the Men’s Arts Council, recently shared that “the event continues to set the benchmark for excellence. Our members, event attendees and even the public are thrilled that this iconic event is returning post-pandemic. »

Among the wide range of amazing exhibits is the 1952 Cunningham C2 Le Mans race car, later called the C2r. Driven by American entrepreneur and sportsman Briggs Cunningham in the 1951 Le Mans 24 hour race, the model features a massive tubular chassis, de Dion rear axle and drum brakes with the interior mounted at the rear on the differential.

Another highly anticipated car is the 1953 Studebaker Commander. The model was created by industrial designer Raymond Loewy and features his distinctively recognized low-slung design. Thanks to its smooth and fluid movements, the car has remained a favorite of racers for over seventy years.

The 32nd edition of the Copperstate 1000 is open to all and ideal for family outings and car enthusiasts. The event runs from Saturday April 2 to Wednesday April 6.
