DeLuz Man died after classic car crash

DELUZ, CA – A DeLuz man who died over the weekend after being trapped under his classic car has been identified.

George Ness, 76, died around 5 p.m. on Sunday at his private property in block 23000 of Corte Bonita, just west of the city limits of Temecula and Murrieta.

A preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol determined that Ness was using his Ford F-350 truck to move a 1935 Chrysler Airflow from a closed trailer on the property. After removing the classic car from the trailer, he got behind the wheel of the Airflow to back it up in its driveway.

Ness then exited the vintage vehicle without securing it, and the car rolled over him, according to the CHP.

Ness died at the scene.
