The Cork Car Show is back this weekend – and it should be a great day for families, oil enthusiasts and anyone who likes a little four (or two) wheel excitement.

Held at the Cork International Hotel near the airport, it is back for a fifth year, and in recent years it has drawn large crowds and raised heavily for charity.

The event will draw owners of classic, vintage and super cars – as well as classic motorcycles – from all over Munster this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It means everything from Classic Fast Fords and Italian beauties of the ’60s and’ 70s to Harley Davidson, Honda Goldwings and more.

The event is a charity fundraising event and this year it will raise funds to benefit the Cope Foundation and its Ability @ Work program.

On this day, Lord Mayor Cllr Colm Kelleher will be present to present the prizes to the winning cars.

Sandra Murphy of Trigon Hotels said: “We hope to have a fantastic day at the Cork International Hotel Car Show which takes place at the Holiday Blue Carpark at Cork Airport.”

“It is always a very exciting event and we hope to raise a huge amount for our charitable partners, Cope Foundation and Ability @ Work. We were very happy to welcome everyone back to the Cork Car Show.

The Cope Foundation’s Ability @ Work program provides job preparation training and employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities or autism. It is funded by the Dormant Accounts Fund and promotes inclusive workplaces by encouraging employers in Cork to open their doors and include everyone.

Emer works with Trigon Hotels and participates in Ability @ Work, she said: “Having a job has made my life better. I am happier because I am like everyone else.

“The hotel staff really make me feel part of the team. Ability @ Work helped me land this job.

“My Job Coach has helped me settle in and learn my trade. My family is really proud of me. I can’t wait for the auto show next week. I think everyone should go. because it will be a lot of fun! “

Exhibitors are free to exhibit, they can reserve by sending an email to smurphy@trigonhotels.com.

Daytime entry is € 5 for adults and free for children, all profits being donated to the association. It’s a great cause and always a fabulous event – and the Smallies will love it!
