I took a vintage car tour around Cambridge and it’s the best way to see the city – Gabrielle Wilde
There are many ways to explore Cambridge with popular choices including walking, punting or cycling. But we’ve found a super cool – and stylish – way to see the city and we think you’ll love it!
Cambridge Vintage Tours are a decadent and lavish way to soak up the city’s many sights, from colleges to shops. The tours, which launched just before the lockdown, take you through historic streets in a hot, vintage car. This is so wrong and yet so right.
We were lucky enough to be invited for a drive and let us tell you, this is our new favorite way to see the city. Here’s what happened when Gaby Wilde did a vintage tour around Cambridge.

About the car
I was introduced to my tour guide Lee, who explained the logistics of the car to me. . It’s a replica of a 1910 Model T with some stylish additions.
It has been extended so that more people can fit in and it is electric (so good for the environment). The car can’t go faster than 20mph, which is a positive as it means you can really soak up the city.
Round
I don’t want to give too much away, because frankly, I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I’ll tell you some of my best moments from the tour. The tour takes you past all the classic Cambridge hotspots like The Corpus Clock and the Mathematical Bridge.
I’ve seen the Corpus Clock a million times before, but really enjoyed Lee’s account of it. He was a fountain of knowledge when it came to tourist attractions. He literally knew everything there was to know about Cambridge and happily answered all my questions.
