Motley’s Richmond Auto Auction to Hold Third East Coast Classic Car Auction
—
Motley’s Richmond Automobile Auctionthe state’s leading wholesale and public auto auction, will hold its third East Coast Classic Car Sales starting at noon on April 15 at its facilities here.
Less than a month away from what has become a highly anticipated event for car enthusiasts, there are dozens of classic American muscle cars, collectible antiques and jaw-dropping exotics.
Underlining the excitement of the past year, a 2006 Fort GT Heritage Edition garnered huge attention and sold for an incredible $552,960.
“We had terrific action on American classics like ’70s Chevrolet Chevelles and Novas and exotics like a 1960 Austin-Healy,” said Wyatt Carter, the auction’s general manager. “A 2021 Jeep Gladiator Overland sold for $81,000.
Some of the vehicles already consigned for this sale include: 1981 Chevrolet Camaro; 1955 Ford F100; International Series IH 1200 from 1968; a 1972 Ford Mustang; and dozens of others.
The highly respected Hagerty Bull Market List said interest in the classic car market has increased significantly and driven higher values. This indicates even greater interest in this year’s sale.
Carter noted that collectors and dealers throughout the mid-Atlantic region now look forward to this event as one of the best in the region.
The auction is located off Interstate 95, approximately five minutes south of downtown Richmond and Interstate 64. The classic car sale begins at noon and will end when all consigned vehicles are executed. A 30,000 square foot tent will be erected to host the event. A red carpet, an on-lane VIP area and guests will be treated to a variety of food trucks, along with appetizers and cocktails.
Motley’s Richmond Auto Auction launched the East Coast Classic Car Auction in spring 2021 and held a second event in the fall
“Despite the COVID-19 concerns over the past year, we have garnered tremendous interest and participation,” Carter said. “Each sale had nearly 200 vehicles on display and we had 700 registered buyers.”
Carter said it’s because of the hard work of auction management and staff that the East Coast Classic Car Auction has garnered so much attention from so many people in such a short time.
“We also have a strong partnership with the Central Virginia Shriners and donate to the organization. In return, they provide volunteers to help set up the tent and drive the vehicles on sale day.
