Southend City Beach Classic Car Show on Easter Sunday

A host of vintage vehicles will be parked at Southend’s City Beach on Sundays and then every third Sunday of the month until October.

This follows news that Southend Shakedown would return to the seafront on Easter Monday after a three-year absence.


Organized by the Southend Classic Car Club, residents are free to show off their own favorite cars, with the only qualifying criteria being that the car must be at least 25 years old.

Organizer Bill Shorer said: “This is one for the car fan calendar.

“If you like cool cars from the past, be sure to keep going because the classic car shows on City Beach are back this year, with seven shows starting on Easter Sunday.”

The shows, from 9 a.m. and open until 4 p.m., are free. If you have a classic, a car, a van or a truck, you are welcome to join the exhibition.

Mr Shorer, a resident of Shoebury, added: ‘We have displayed some great cars over the years, and this year we hope the shows will be even better than ever.’ We look forward to seeing you there and feel free to bring your family and friends along too.

The seaside shows, which have been running for nearly a decade, will see around 50 cars on display, with previous models to grace the shows including a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle, 1961 Ford Zodiac, 1967 Chevrolet Camero and even a 1975 Rolls Royce. Shadow.

The exhibitions are organized by the South Eastern Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club, a club of 250 class car enthusiasts, established in 1990.

The club hold various displays at classic car shows across the region and are best known for their London to Southend Classic Vehicle Run, an annual event which commemorates 64 cars which left London for a 1,000 mile test drive in April 1900 .

The journey took drivers and their passengers on an endurance test to Edinburgh and back to prove the car was a serious mode of transport for rival trains.
