Sydney Sweeney rebuilds classic vintage car on viral TikTok page
No, but seriously, is there anything that Euphoria starlet Sydney Sweeney can’t do? We’ve seen her take over TV for the past few years, but it looks like she’s also got her sights set on becoming the queen of classic cars.
Sweeney took us through her journey of restoring her cherry red 1969 Ford Bronco which she purchased in February 2021 on her TikTok account, @syds_garage. And sure enough, videos of her working under the car in overalls and pink gloves instantly went viral, with fans obsessed with her skills.
His dream car project, however, was neither quick nor easy. In an interview on The late show with James Corden, Sydney talked about all the work she put into the vehicle.
“I completely changed the transmission, changed the front and rear axles, went from drum brakes to disc brakes, changed its power steering,” she said of the restoration.
The most recent post on the account showed the actress in January taking the Bronco for a spin after completing all necessary restorations. Sydney captioned the clip, “She’s finally fit to drive! Send her for stuffing this weekend :)”
After completely restoring the Ford, the actress took the car on a trip to eBay Motor’s New York Auto Parts Show to show off her hard work as part of the show’s restored car exhibit.
“Since buying my Ford Bronco last February, I’ve done everything from rebuilding the transmission to brushing the cables for rust,” Sweeney said in a press release for the auto show. . “It’s really important to me to preserve the integrity of the original Ford build, so when I need a rare part – like a unique transmission adapter that’s almost impossible to find – eBay Motors is always my first stop.”
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Sweeney revealed his love of the hobby and why it is so dear to him. She said, “Anyone can go out and buy a brand new car, but not everyone can have something rare that has history.”
And how did Syd get into the cars, you ask? Well, for the same reason, we’ve all found things to occupy our time during the height of COVID-19.
“In quarantine, my creative juices were overflowing. I was very bored and got addicted to auction sites for cars. I wanted a Bronco so badly. But I wanted to build one so that when I drove it and people were saying ‘cool car’, I could say ‘Yeah, thank you’ and I know I made it,” she told Cosmopolitan.
After her first restoration, Sydney isn’t quite ready to hang up her goggles. In a May 2021 post, Sweeney introduced us to his new project. “Here’s my new baby Britney 🥰💙 I’ll start working on her soon! #cartiktok,” she wrote in the caption.
Let us know when the Mustang is done, Syd – we’re free for a test drive!
